AP source: Israel won't warn US before Iran strike
WASHINGTON (AP) ? Israeli officials say they won't warn the U.S. if they decide to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities, according to one U.S. intelligence official familiar with the discussions. The pronouncement, delivered in a series of private, top-level conversations, sets a tense tone ahead of meetings in the coming days at the White House and Capitol Hill.
Israeli officials said that if they eventually decide a strike is necessary, they would keep the Americans in the dark to decrease the likelihood that the U.S. would be held responsible for failing to stop Israel's potential attack. The U.S. has been working with the Israelis for months to persuade them that an attack would be only a temporary setback to Iran's nuclear program.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak delivered the message to a series of top-level U.S. visitors to the country, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the White House national security adviser and the director of national intelligence, and top U.S. lawmakers, all trying to close the trust gap between Israel and the U.S. over how to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Netanyahu delivered the same message to all the Americans who have traveled to Israel for talks, the U.S. official said.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive strategic negotiations.
The White House did not respond to requests for comment, and the Pentagon and Office of Director of National Intelligence declined to comment, as did the Israeli Embassy.
Iran claims its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but the International Atomic Energy Agency has raised alarms that its uranium enrichment program might be a precursor to building nuclear weapons. The U.S. has said it does not know whether Tehran has decided to weaponize its nuclear material and put it on a missile or other delivery device.
The secret warning is likely to worry US officials and begin the high level meetings with Israel and the U.S. far apart on how to handle Iran.
But the apparent decision to keep the U.S. in the dark also stems from Israel's frustration with the White House. After a visit by National Security Adviser Tom Donilon in particular, they became convinced the Americans would neither take military action, nor go along with unilateral action by Israel against Iran. The Israelis concluded they would have to conduct a strike unilaterally ? a point they are likely to hammer home in a series of meetings over the next two weeks in Washington, the official said.
Barak will meet with top administration and congressional officials during his visit. Netanyahu arrives in Washington for meetings with President Barack Obama next week.
The behind-the-scenes warning belies the publicly united front the two sides have attempted to craft with the shuttle diplomacy to each other's capitals.
"It's unprecedented outreach to Israel to make sure we are working together to develop the plan to deter Iran from developing a nuclear weapon," and to keep them from exporting terrorism, said Maryland Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.
He traveled there with the Intelligence Committee chairman, Rep. Mike Rogers, a Michigan Republican, to meet Israel's prime minister and defense minister, along with other officials.
"We talked about the fact that sanctions are working and they are going to get a lot more aggressive," Ruppersberger added.
They also talked about presenting a unified front to Iran, to counter the media reports that the two countries are at odds over how and when to attack Iran.
"We have to learn from North Korea. All those (peace) talks and stalling and they developed a nuclear weapon," he said. "We are going to send a message, enough is enough, the stalling is over. ... All options are on the table."
"I got the sense that Israel is incredibly serious about a strike on their nuclear weapons program," Rogers told CNN on Monday. "It's their calculus that the administration ... is not serious about a real military consequence to Iran moving forward.
"They believe they're going to have to make a decision on their own, given the current posture of the United States," he added.
U.S. intelligence and special operations officials have tried to keep a dialogue going with Israel, despite the high-level impasse, sharing with them options such as allowing Israel to use U.S. bases in the region from which to launch such a strike, as a way to make sure the Israelis give the Americans a heads-up, according to the U.S. official, and a former U.S. official with knowledge of the communications
Cooperation has improved on sharing of intelligence in the region, according to one current and one former U.S. official. Israel is providing key information on Syria for instance, now that the U.S. has closed its embassy and pulled out both its diplomats and intelligence officials stationed there, the U.S. official said.

High-Fiber Diets Help Fight Breast Cancer | Medify
New Research Finds that High-Fiber Diets Help Reduce Systemic Inflammation, a Potential Risk Factor for Breast Cancer
Diets high in fiber offer a multitude of benefits. They normalize bowel function, help maintain bowel health, lower blood cholesterol levels, help control blood sugar levels and aid in weight loss. Add to that, recent studies have shown that a high-fiber diet can reduce the risk of breast cancer.
In a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies, Chinese researchers found that diets rich in fiber were associated with the lowest risk for breast cancer. The study showed that for every 10g/d of fiber intake, women reduce their breast cancer risks by seven percent.
At the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, research indicates that dietary fiber may reduce systemic inflammation, a suspected risk factor for breast cancer. Scientists examined associations between dietary fiber intake and concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum amyloid A (SAA), both indicators of inflammation in the body.
Among the 698 breast cancer survivors involved in the study, those who consumed more than 15.5 g/day of insoluble dietary fiber were 49 percent less likely to experience a relapse compared to survivors who ate less than 5.4 g/day. However, in a separate study, British researchers observed that only soluble fiber helped reduce breast cancer risks, especially for those who consumed more than 25 grams of soluble fiber per day.
Examples of foods high in soluble fiber (slows digestion; makes you feel full):
- Legumes
- Oats, rye, barley
- Cucumbers, celery and carrots
- Berries, bananas, apples
Examples of foods high in insoluble fiber (adds bulk to diet; has a laxative effect):
- Whole wheat and whole grains
- Seeds and nuts
- Brown rice, couscous, bulgar
- Zucchini, broccoli, cabbage
While research continues, it?s clear that fiber has strong benefits when it comes to overall health and even reducing breast cancer risks. Experts recommend that women get 25 grams of fiber each day; men need 35 to 40 grams. And eating foods rich in fiber, in contrast to foods with ?added fiber,? is the best way to ensure you get the most out of your fiber intake.
Medify, which has over 2,500 research abstracts on fiber alone, is on a mission to provide patients and their loved ones access to the best information online about their medical condition.

Game BAFTAs ? Gaming News and Game Reviews from ...
The European chain of stores Game is currently running a British Academy Video games Awards, or BAVTA! Well actually it's called a BAFTA... but the point stands. Anyway, as part of this they have a massive online poll running to choose what is going to be the Game of the Year of 2011. Anyone can vote in this (or at last anyone in the UK) and you can vote right now at the link here. So a video game of the year chosen by the people!
I'm already looking forward to the outcome!
I've already dropped MMGaming's official vote into this poll. But before I reveal all... I'll give you the list of the other nominees and why you should/shouldn't vote for them!
- Batman: Arkham City - If this game wins the Game of the Year then I won't be surprised in the slightest. It absolutely deserves pride of place in any gamers collection and easily deserves any prizes you care to throw at it. All the MMGamers loved it and everyone else should love it too! (You can see our review here)
- Battlefield 3 - While an absolutely excellent shooter Battlefield represents a lack of imagination in the Gaming industry. A big, modern FPS with a colour scale ranging from brown to grey. It's certainly an excellent shooter, but it lacks what I think makes a truly great game.?(You can see our review here)
- Modern Warfare 3 - See what I said about Battlefield 3... only this is actually technically worse in all respects. However, despite this, it's massive fanbase might insure it's victory... That would be a sad day for the industry...
- FIFA 12 - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No... While a fun game to mess about with the lads and actually a surprising step up from previous games (if our review is anyjudge), it is NOT a fantastic game. Good? Yes... But it does not deserve game of the year...?(You can see our review here)
- L.A. Noire - I actually can't really make an accurate judgement here having never played the game and having heard mixed reviews. Tim has played it a little I understand, but he didn't exactly rave it about it. Based on what I know L.A. Noire is a good game but once again it's simply not Game of the Year material
- Minecraft - Ah... A tough one... Not only does Minecraft fall under the banner of "Indie" games (at least it does in my?approximation) it's so vastly different to the others that it's tough to decide. I do think though that Minecraft is easily one of the best games of our time and deserves a space in any "Top 10" lists, but while it's amazing and I think you should play it I, once again would not give it Game of the Year. May Notch slam my face onto my keyboard if I'm wrong-blhefUIui;FWG
- Portal 2 - Another?candidate?that absolutely deserves Game of the Year if it wins. Excellent soundtrack, voice-acting, gameplay. A cool story and setting. An amusing multiplayer. This game has it all! It's absolutely fantastic and is easily one of the best games of last year.?(You can see our review here)
- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - I won't even write down fake laughter here. That's because I want to convey to you just how seriously I want you to NOT vote for this. Yet another game on the already massive pile of Zelda games, thrown down to it's fans who go after it like dogs after a bone. If it weren't for the fact that, for a great many, Zelda comes with enough nostalgia to smother a horse I think we would have heard the last of it a long time ago. It, alongside games like Mario and Call of Duty represent what I dislike most in the gaming world: a lack of innovation and imagination...
- Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - As far as I am aware this is the one game that no MMGamer played at all last year. Not even Tim. Again, like L.A. Noire, I have heard some mixed things and I think I will simply say: "It might well be a great game, but again it's not a Game of the Year".
Now if any of you have already toddled over to the voting website then you will have noticed I am giving out these games in the same order they have on the website. And a few smarties amongst you might have noticed I have missed one out. In fact if you follow MMGaming at all then you will, not only have noticed that I left one out, you will know what I'm going to say next. Yes folks, the last game on the list is indeed:
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - a massive fantasy, RPG, epic. Dragons, swords, magic, elves, orcs, trolls. This game has everything. For me it easily wins Game of the Year for 2011 (and it did in the MMGAwards). It's epic story, fantastic graphics and setting, excellent gameplay, amazing balance and customisation. Everything about it comes together in one ocean of pure and?unadulterated ecstasy... While some of the games on the list do deserve a Game of the Year award, Skyrim simply outshines them all. It's a bright sun of pure awesome which fills me with hope and joy.?(You can see our review here)
So yes, there you have the list and my rant on each one! So go now! Vote for Skyrim! Dovahkiin, naal ak zin, los vahriin!

Jessica Biel Debuts Engagement Ring From Justin Timberlake
Jessica Biel debuted her engagement ring from Justin Timberlake Saturday.
We don't have photos to prove it, as the notoriously private couple would never flaunt such a thing (they're the anti-Kardashians). But it happened.
The actress, 29, was seen getting cozy with her man, 31, at a Saturday Night Live after-party, the first time Biel went out in public with her sparkler.
It was a rare public display of affection for a couple who doesn't often step out together and who didn't even announce their own engagement.
They usually don't even attend premieres of the other's films together, so that the person starring gets the full spotlight for their work each time.
This time, though, Biel, 29, and Timberlake, 31, "were very lovey all night and kissed a few times," a guest at the Ristorante Asellina party says.
The couple, who started dating in 2007, celebrated Timberlake's appearance on SNL as Grammy-winning folk sensation Bon Iver with other guests.
Evan Rachel Wood, Sports Illustrated cover girl Kate Upton, David Alan Grier, Seth Meyers, Chloe Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kenan Thompson and Maya Rudolph were all on hand.
Also spending time with them: former SNL star Amy Poehler and current cast mate Kristen Wiig, who "loved the ring and chatted [Biel] up about it."
Justin and Jessica are currently trailing Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in our favorite couples tournament matchup. Be sure to vote!

Cloud Music Sniper brings your Google Music library to any music player
There is absolutely no doubt that Google Music is a fantastic service to have, if slightly limiting at times. The music stored in your cloud locker is only ever available to the official Google Music app which is frustrating for some. Oh for a world where Poweramp or Winamp could access all that music. Well that world is now, and Cloud Music Sniper can bring your music to your chosen music app.
The previous incarnation was known as Google Music Sniper, but was suspended due to its name. The new version requires no root, and works by 'sniping' your offline synced music content and storing it in a new directory. This directory is then available to your alternative music player. The music is actually available to be taken off your device and used on your desktop computer. To the user it is as simple as firing up the app and following some on screen instructions.
Cloud Music Sniper is still in the early stages, and the developers are known for constantly updating their apps, so there should be plenty more to come. If this sounds like something for you, it'll run you for $1.99/£1.26 in the Android Market. Download links can be found after the break.

You Don?t Need a Kitchen To Be a Chef
The key to guerilla cooking is preparation. I recommend doing all of your knife work at home. A couscous pilaf is a great dish for beginners, because it requires no heat control. At home, dice onions, carrots, celery, and cauliflower in some combination to make two cups of vegetables, and put them in a zip-top bag. Store one cup of couscous and a tablespoon of paprika in a separate bag. In a third bag, put three-quarters of a cup of toasted and chopped almonds, walnuts, or cashews. The on-site preparation is easy. Saut? the vegetables. Add the couscous and paprika and cook for a minute or so, stirring. Add one-and-a-half cups of water, plus salt and one of your handy bouillon cubes, and bring to a boil. Cover, remove the pan from the heat, and let it sit for five minutes. Mix in the nuts. Voila. A fresh lunch in the privacy of your own office.
You can take it from here. Stir-fries, soups, frittatas, and quesadillas are obvious choices, but be creative. This is all about breaking rules. You don?t need an oven to make bread, cookies, or pizzas, if you get good at controlling the delivery of heat from stove to food. Scour the Internet for intriguing recipes, and adapt them to your minimalist set-up. Or look to camping cookbooks, and then adorn them with luxuries like white wine or fresh cheeses that you couldn?t take on a backpacking trip.
Once your culinary skills are off the leash, you can take your portable kitchen anywhere. Get a commercial camping stove and start cooking your lunch in the park across the street, or on the rooftop deck. If cost is an issue you can go totally rogue and jury-rig an alcohol burner from scratch. There are plenty of templates out there, but the most basic version consists of a tuna fish can filled with perlite rocks and denatured alcohol, then covered with an aluminum screen. (All those items are available for purchase at any hardware store.) Keep in mind that these burners produce an open flame, so you'll need to be prepared for mishaps. If you?re cooking indoors, open a window for ventilation or get a carbon monoxide monitor.
All this may sound like a hassle, but it's not. My entire alcohol stove set up fits inside a lightweight pot and weighs less than 6 ounces. And don?t worry about judgmental co-workers. They just don?t understand what cooking is all about. Food plus heat; it's that simple.

Babies know what's fair

Association for Psychological Science
"That's not fair!" It's a common playground complaint. But how early do children acquire this sense of fairness? Before they're 2, says a new study. "We found that 19- and 21-month-old infants have a general expectation of fairness, and they can apply it appropriately to different situations," says University of Illinois psychology graduate student Stephanie Sloane, who conducted the study with UI's Rene Baillargeon and David Premack of the University of Pennsylvania. The findings appear in Psychological Science, a journal published by the Association for Psychological Science.
In each of two experiments, babies watched live scenarios unfold. In the first, 19-month-olds saw two giraffe puppets dance around at the back of a stage. An experimenter arrived with two toys on a tray and said, "I have toys!" "Yay!" said the giraffes. Then the experimenter gave one toy to each giraffe or both to one of them. The infants were timed gazing at the scene until they lost interest. Longer looking times indicated that something was oddunexpectedto the baby. In this experiment, three-quarters of the infants looked longer when one giraffe got both toys.
In the second experiment, two women faced each other with a pile of small toys between them and an empty plastic box in front of each of them. An experimenter said, "Wow! Look at all these toys. It's time to clean them up." In one scenario, one woman dutifully put the toys away, while the other kept playingbut the experimenter gave a reward to both the worker and the slacker. In another scenario, both women put the toys away and both got a reward. The observing 21-month-old infants looked reliably longer when the worker and the slacker were rewarded equally.
"We think children are born with a skeleton of general expectations about fairness," explains Sloane, "and these principles and concepts get shaped in different ways depending on the culture and the environment they're brought up in." Some cultures value sharing more than others, but the ideas that resources should be equally distributed and rewards allocated according to effort are innate and universal.
Other survival instincts can intervene. Self-interest is one, as is loyalty to the in-groupyour family, your tribe, your team. It's much harder to abide by that abstract sense of fairness when you want all the cookiesor your team is hungry. That's why children need reminders to share and practice in the discipline of doing the right thing in spite of their desires.
Still, says Sloane, "helping children behave more morally may not be as hard as it would be if they didn't have that skeleton of expectations."
This innate moral sense might also explain the power of early trauma, Sloane says. Aside from fairness, research has shown that small children expect people not to harm others and to help others in distress. "If they witness events that violate those expectations in extreme ways, it could explain why these events have such negative and enduring consequences."

Pattinson says may be too old to return to "Twilight" (omg!)
BERLIN (Reuters) - British actor Robert Pattinson said on Friday he may be too old to reprise his role as the ever-youthful vampire Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" movies, should author Stephenie Meyer decide to add another novel to the series.
The 25-year-old's status as an A-list celebrity was underlined at the Berlin film festival where crowds of screaming girls gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor.
Pattinson, sporting shaved hair, was at the festival for the world premiere of "Bel Ami", a costume drama set in late 19th century Paris based on Guy de Maupassant's novel about a poor man who sleeps and cheats his way to the top of society.
It marks a big step away from the "Twilight" world which turned Pattinson into a star, and will go some way to showing how versatile he is as an actor.
"I'd be curious what Stephenie would write, but I just think I'd probably be too old," he told reporters after a screening of "Bel Ami", which also features Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci. "I'm already too old. But yeah, it'd be kind of interesting."
The five-film "Twilight" franchise is based on Meyer's best-selling four-novel series. The four movies out so far have amassed around $2.5 billion at the global box office, with the final chapter due to hit theatres in November.
In "Bel Ami", Pattinson plays Georges Duroy, a poor ex-soldier who uses his looks and charm to seduce society beauties and convince his newspaper employers to give him important jobs.
Everywhere he turns he sees slights directed at him, and his ruthless desire for revenge, power and wealth means he turns insults to his advantage, no matter what the consequences.
That sensitivity struck a chord with Pattinson when he read the script a long time ago, he explained.
"If someone insulted me I would get 10 years of ambition out of it ... But I think I've grown up a little bit now. I'm not as horrible."
The part contrasts with that of the noble and faithful Cullen, which Pattinson said was what interested him.
"The character of Georges rarely comes up in any movies any more, because he's unrepentant," he said. "It was quite fun playing that and I don't think I'll ever have the opportunity to play him again."
Pattinson said he was amused by similarities between 19th century gossip columnists and today's celebrity-obsessed media.
Theatre director Declan Donnellan, directing his first movie, found the themes of Maupassant's novel still relevant today -- a "corrupt" government, a complicit media and a controversial invasion of an Arab country.
"What I'm interested in is now," he said. "It's very good to use that world to talk about ourselves."
Pattinson hoped he could bring some of his fiercely loyal "Twilight" fan base with him to see Bel Ami.
"The biggest disservice you can do to your audience is trying to repeat the same thing and get them to come just to get money or whatever.
"But if people are interested in what you are doing, then if you try and do interesting films on interesting subjects then I think it's great."
Asked what he thought of the fans waiting to see him outside the hotel where the press conference was held, he replied:
"The audience outside here is from everywhere, people came from Thailand and stand out in the cold there. I can't relate on any level, but it's definitely very nice."

Video: Plants use circadian rhythms to prepare for battle with insects
In a study of the molecular underpinnings of plants' pest resistance, Rice University biologists have shown that plants both anticipate daytime raids by hungry insects and make sophisticated preparations to fend them off.
"When you walk past plants, they don't look like they're doing anything," said Janet Braam, an investigator on the new study, which appears this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "It's intriguing to see all of this activity down at the genetic level. It's like watching a besieged fortress go on full alert."
Braam, professor and chair of Rice's Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, said scientists have long known that plants have an internal clock that allows them to measure time regardless of light conditions. For example, some plants that track the sun with their leaves during the day are known to "reset" their leaves at night and move them back toward the east in anticipation of sunrise.
In recent years, scientists have begun to apply powerful genetic tools to the study of plant circadian rhythms. Researchers have found that as many as one-third of the genes in Arabidopsis thaliana -- a widely studied species in plant biology -- are activated by the circadian cycle. Rice biochemist Michael Covington found that some of these circadian-regulated genes were also connected to wounding responses.
"We wondered whether some of these circadian-regulated genes might allow plants to anticipate attacks from insects, in much the same way that they anticipate the sunrise," said Covington, now at the University of California, Davis.
Danielle Goodspeed, a graduate student in biochemistry and cell biology, designed a clever experiment to answer the question. She used 12-hour light cycles to entrain the circadian clocks of both Arabidopsis plants and cabbage loopers, a type of caterpillar that eats Arabidopsis. Half of the plants were placed with caterpillars on a regular day-night cycle, and the other half were placed with "out-of-phase" caterpillars whose internal clocks were set to daytime mode during the hours that the plants were in nighttime mode.
"We found that the plants whose clocks were in phase with the insects were relatively resistant, whereas the plants whose clocks were out of phase were decimated by the insects feeding on them," Goodspeed said.Wassim Chehab, a Rice faculty fellow in biochemistry and cell biology, helped Goodspeed design a follow-up experiment to understand how plants used their internal clocks to resist insect attacks. Chehab and Goodspeed examined the accumulation of the hormone jasmonate, which plants use to regulate the production of metabolites that interfere with insect digestion.
They found that Arabidopsis uses its circadian clock to increase jasmonate production during the day, when insects like cabbage loopers feed the most. They also found that the plants used their internal clocks to regulate the production of other chemical defenses, including those that protect against bacterial infections.
"Jasmonate defenses are employed by virtually all plants, including tomatoes, rice and corn," Chehab said. "Understanding how plants regulate these hormones could be important for understanding why some pests are more damaging than others, and it could help suggest new strategies for insect resistance."

U.S. Catholic bishops oppose Obama birth-control plan (Reuters)
WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? U.S. Catholic Church leaders said they will fight President Barack Obama's controversial birth-control insurance coverage policy despite his compromise that religious employers would not have to offer free contraceptives for workers, shifting the responsibility to insurers.
In an abrupt policy shift aimed at trying to end a growing election-year firestorm, Obama on Friday announced the compromise.
But the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said its concerns were not addressed and cited "serious moral concerns."
In a statement issued Friday evening, the bishops said Obama's proposal "continues to involve needless government intrusion in the internal governance of religious institutions, and to threaten government coercion of religious people and groups to violate their most deeply held convictions."
"We will therefore continue - with no less vigor, no less sense of urgency - our efforts to correct this problem through the other two branches of government," the bishops said in urging Congress to take action to overturn the rule.
The regulation at the center of the controversy requires religious-affiliated groups such as charities, hospitals and universities, but not churches themselves, to provide employees with coverage for birth control as other health insurance providers must do.
Catholic Church leaders and Obama's Republican opponents previously led the fight against the rule requiring coverage for contraceptives as a violation of religious freedom, making it a potential big issue in the 2012 presidential race.
Obama's compromise sought to accommodate religious organizations, such as Catholic hospitals and universities. But the reaction from the bishops and other Catholic leaders made clear the battle would continue.
NO "CLEAR PROTECTION"
The bishops said the compromise failed to provide "clear protection" for many employers who might oppose birth control personally but not be classified as a religious institution, and thus ineligible to seek exemption from the federal mandate to provide free contraception as part of every insurance package.
Under the compromise, religious employers could opt out of providing coverage, but their workers could then ask their insurance company for that benefit, and the company would be required to provide it free of charge.
In reality, the bishops suggested, that meant the employer would still in effect be subsidizing the benefit, because the insurance company would likely pay for it out of the pool of revenues it earned from its contract with the employer.
"This, too, raises serious moral concerns," the bishops said.
Meanwhile, three religious groups will continue to pursue their legal challenges to the government's regulation, despite Obama's announcement, said Hannah Smith, a lawyer at the Beckett Fund for Religious Liberty, which represents the plaintiffs.
The lawsuits, filed by two religious colleges and a Catholic television network, said the government violated their constitutional rights to freedom of speech and religion. Two were filed last year and the third was filed last week.
The rule, initially announced on January 20, sparked an outcry not only from Catholic leaders but also from social conservatives, including Republican presidential hopefuls. It even drew opposition from several Democratic lawmakers.
Republicans have seized on the issue, seeking to put Obama on the defensive as signs of economic improvement appear to have re-energized his re-election bid.
Obama's compromise was aimed at preventing the controversy from becoming a liability for him with Catholic voters, while at the same time trying not to anger his liberal base.
"Birth control is basic healthcare and women should have access to birth control, no matter where they work," said Tait Sye, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood.
"It should not be left up to a boss's personal beliefs whether his employees should be allowed birth control coverage," he said.
"SHELL GAME"
Michael O'Dea, the founder and executive director of Christus Medicus Foundation, a nonprofit advocacy group for religious healthcare providers, said many Catholic institutions have created their own self-insurance plans to get around state regulations requiring independent insurers to provide birth control if they cover other prescription drugs.
The compromise, he said, would require those insurance plans to cover the contraception - even if the insurers are arms of the Catholic Church.
"This compromise means nothing. It is nothing more than a shell game," O'Dea said.
Polls indicate a majority of Americans and Catholics support requiring contraception coverage.
On Saturday a group supporting expanded access to birth control released a survey showing that 57 percent of Catholic women favor the compromise set forth by Obama.
It found that 56 percent of independent Catholic voters favored the revised contraceptive coverage rule.
Among Hispanic Catholics, who could be pivotal in swing states such as New Mexico and Nevada, the poll found 59 percent supported the policy.
The survey, commissioned by the Coalition to Protect Women's Health Care and conducted on Friday night by Public Policy Polling, queried 466 Catholic voters. It had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.

Computer Finance Bad Credit: Finance for Computer | HostExe
Computer is one of the most common and important electronic gadgets of the modern world. A modern man without a computer with him is just what one cannot imagine. It is easy to comprehend the overwhelming popularity of the computers just following the recent record of the turnover achieved by the producing and selling companies of the computers. Nevertheless, it is not always possible for most of the men and women to have a computer of their choice. The reason behind this is that the price tag of a standard computer having the latest provisions is enough to create tremor in the wallet. Hence, a section of the people considers securing the finance from any lender. True it is still that many of them have messed up their history of credit. Against this scenario, computer finance bad credit appears to be the perfect choice for the ones who want to own a computer.
The phrase ?computer finance bad credit? clearly indicates that the lender would not consider the history of credit or would not bother to check it when he advances any loan amount of this kind to any borrower.
The fact still it is that computer finance bad credit is available in the market in two categories: secured and unsecured.
The loan-seeker aiming at securing computer finance bad credit in secured form must have valuable property which he would pledge against the amount of loan to be offered by the lender. The lender will enjoy a right to grab the collateral assets if the borrower fails to pay back the borrowed amount. Of course, the lender will warn him more than once before taking possession of the said property.
Collateral property is not asked from the borrower when the lender offers computer finance bad credit in unsecured form.
The terms and conditions in the unsecured form are stricter. The rates of interest are comparatively high and the period for reimbursement is shorter.
The amount of loan to be offered is fixed by the lender. The lender takes a decision assessing the financial potency of the loan-seeker.
The borrower must be a citizen of United Kingdom and he must be over 18. He must have an annual income of about ?12,000. It is important that he must be working in any officially accepted establishment. He must also have checking account.
The borrower is allowed to apply online and online submission of loan application is comfortable.
